Lowlifes

An immersive performance exploring grief, death and love—and our relationships with ourselves, one another and the environment.

The development

A space for reflection, connection and shared encounter.

Through movement, sound and responsive digital environments, Lowlifes is creating a sensorial space in which private experience and collective life can meet.

The project is currently being shaped through research and development. Its performance scale, audience relationship and technical architecture will be confirmed with partners rather than fixed before the research has taken place.

How the system is developing

Movement, sound and responsive media will influence one another in real time; the exact sensing, projection and audience-interaction system remains part of the 2026 R&D.

Research foundation

Learning carried forward.

The development carries forward learning from a 2021 dance-and-VR research process created with 15 Associate Artists from Access All Areas.

Funded by East London Dance and supported by Access All Areas, the research informs the new work’s creative methodology, access approach and audience experience.
