The edit as a choreographic partner.
Pas De is made for the camera and screen. Performance is recorded, processed and edited so that movement unfolds through the relationship between the live body and its digital reconfiguration.
The work makes visible a strand of Zjana’s practice in which software, montage and the camera do not simply document choreography; they participate in making it.
How the system works
Max/MSP/Jitter processes and recomposes recorded movement, allowing rhythm, repetition and image transformation to operate as choreographic structures.
