Glass on Glass

A reflective body study in which the camera, glass and dancing body shape one another.

Dance for camera Film collaboration with Reynir Hutber Audio by Ben Sassen

The work

Reflection as choreographic material.

Glass on Glass brings the dancing body into dialogue with reflective surfaces and the camera’s shifting point of view. Image, surface and movement create a screen encounter that could not exist in the same way on stage.

The film is part of Zjana’s wider dance-for-camera practice, where framing, duration and visual composition act as choreographic decisions.

How the image works

Camera framing and reflective glass layer, divide and redirect the moving body, turning optical reflection into an active part of the choreography.
