Zjana is a Bulgarian-American contemporary dance artist, somatic movement therapist and creative coder. Originally from NYC she currently splits time between London, New York, and Sofia. Performance credits with: the Hartford Ballet under artistic director Kirk Peterson, Cleveland Repertory Project, Time Lapse Dance/Jody Sperling, performing with musical artists Shaggy and noise band Sonic Youth, working with interactive media artist Scott Snibbe and film director Harmony Korine. Zjana has also been choreographing and presenting her own work since she was a student in dance at LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts in Manhattan and publicly presented her first choreographic work in 2007 as a commissioned work for California Institue of the Arts. While in New York and Los Angeles, Zjana also had the opportunity to study with and perform the works of David Gordan, Danna Uchizono, Bebe Miller, Kathleen Hermsdorf, Seán Curran, Doug Varone, Miguel Gutierrez, and Robert Battle.
